You're an Artist.
Not a receptionist.
Australia doesn't have a booking platform built for tattoos. Canvs is it: clients find you, agree your terms and pay a deposit before they get anywhere near your chair.
Canvs takes the enquiries, the quoting, the deposits, the reschedules and the money off your plate, so your day is a machine in your hand instead of a thumb in your DMs. We're opening 300 founding spots before public launch.
- Placement
- Outer forearm, left
- Size
- 14 cm
- Your rate
- $720, balance already authorised
Answering the same three questions, quoting, chasing, rescheduling. Unpaid admin, every single week.
That's what happens when nothing is riding on the booking. Empty chair, dead day, no recourse.
A cancellation the night before earns nothing if the only plan is a story on Instagram and hope.
Set it up once.
The bookings come to you.
You fill in your styles, your minimums, your rules and your hours one time. From then on, a client finds you, reads your terms, picks a real slot and pays a deposit without you typing a word.
It is your portfolio doing the job your portfolio was supposed to do: turning a scroll into a confirmed, paid session.
- Clients filter by style, placement, healed work and price band, so the wrong enquiries never reach you
- Your terms sit up front: minimums, day rates, deposit policy, age policy
- Guest spots and travel dates surface to clients in that city automatically
- The page is yours. Take it with you if you change studios
Never answer “how much
for a small one?” again.
Every enquiry arrives as a complete brief, because Canvs won't let a client send one without it. Placement, size in centimetres, style, references, budget band, availability. You read it in ten seconds and answer once.
- Structured brief form, not a free-text DM at 1am
- Quote, counter-quote or decline in one tap, with saved reply templates
- Auto-decline the work you don't take: script, portraits, hands, under 18s
- Everything threaded and searchable, so nothing gets lost behind a story reply
- Placement
- Outer forearm, left
- Size
- 14 cm by 9 cm
- Style
- Fineline botanical, no shading
- Colour
- Black only
- Budget
- $600 to $800

The money lands in
your account. Not ours.
Canvs never holds your money. The deposit is charged straight to your own Stripe account, which means you are the merchant of record and the funds are yours the moment they clear. We only enforce the terms you set.
The balance isn't left hanging either. It's authorised on the client's card at the time of booking and captured on the day, so the full amount is committed before anyone sits down.
- Deposit is a percentage of the quote. You choose it, anywhere from 20% to 50%
- No deposit, no slot. The calendar doesn't move until the payment clears
- Client agrees to your cancellation terms at checkout, so you're never the bad guy in a text message
- Payouts run daily to your bank, two business days after the charge
- Deposit
- $144.00, 20% of the quote, cleared 1 Sep
- Balance
- $576.00 authorised on card, captured on session day
- Client pays
- $792.00, includes the 10% platform fee added on top
- You receive
- $720.00. Nothing is deducted from your rate
- Reschedule 7 or more days out: deposit transfers, once
- Inside 7 days or no show: the deposit is already yours, and stays yours
- You cancel: full refund to the client, automatically
- Quote accepted
- Deposit paid, $144 to you
Slot locked. Balance authorised. Both calendars updated.
- Balance captured, $576
In your bank two business days later.
One calendar.
Nothing double-booked.
Set the hours you actually work, the length of session you actually run, and the buffer you actually need. Clients can only book into what's real.
- Multi-session projects like sleeves and back pieces booked as a series, deposits staged
- Studio-wide view for shops: chairs, guest artists, apprentices
- Syncs to Google and Apple Calendar so your life doesn't live in two places
- Auto-blocks travel, conventions and days off before anyone can grab them
A cancellation shouldn't
cost you the whole day.
The moment a session falls through, Canvs offers the slot to every client near you who already wants your work, matched on style, budget and how far they'll travel. You don't post a story and hope.
- A pre-qualified waiting list per artist, made of people who asked to be told
- First to pay the deposit takes the slot, so there's no back and forth
- Offer flash designs at a set price for short-notice fills
- You decide the discount, or you don't discount at all
- Slot released
Offered to 412 clients: fineline, $500 to $900, within 25 km.
- 6 responses
4 can make the full window.
- Booked, deposit cleared
Calendar updated. The original client's deposit stays with you.
You keep every dollar
you quote.
Canvs adds its 10% on top of your rate and the client pays it. Nothing comes out of your number, and Canvs covers the Stripe processing fees out of its own share.
Every session, deposit and refund lands in one ledger, so you can stop guessing what the chair is actually worth.
- Live totals: booked, completed, balances authorised, refunded
- Daily payouts straight to your bank, two business days after the charge
- Revenue per hour, per style and per client, so you can price properly
- One-click CSV for your accountant, GST-ready for Australian sole traders
Reviews that
can't be faked.
Only a client who paid a deposit and sat in your chair can leave a review. No bots, no competitors, no anonymous one-stars from someone who never walked in.
- Verified against a completed, paid session, every time
- Healed-work photos requested at six weeks, with the client's consent
- Right of reply on every review, and genuine disputes go to a human
- Your rating travels with you between studios and cities
Sent the brief on Monday, had a quote and a date by Tuesday. Line work is dead clean and the stencil matched the reference exactly.
Took a short-notice slot that came up the same morning. Whole thing took four minutes to book.
Run the shop,
not the spreadsheet.
Every chair, every resident, every guest, on one roster with one set of numbers. Splits are calculated per booking instead of reconstructed at the end of the month.
- Shop-wide calendar across chairs, residents, guests and apprentices
- Employed artists route to the studio account, contractors route to their own
- Guest spot listings that pull artists into your empty weeks
- Walk-in queue and flash day tools for the front counter

Find your city.
Canvs opens a city once 60 founding artists are in it, so there are enough artists for a client to have a real choice on day one. Apply from anywhere in Australia. If your city isn't listed, you're building it.
Every style is welcome. The clients arriving on Canvs are searching by style first and location second, so the tighter your styles are set, the better the enquiries you get.
300 spots. Then we close the book.
Founding artists shape what Canvs becomes: you get the roadmap, we get your notes. When we open to the public, your profile is already live, already reviewed, already ranking, and everyone else starts from zero.

- Melbourne41 of 60
- Brisbane30 of 60
- Perth21 of 60
- Elsewhere40 of 60
A city goes live once 60 founding artists are in it. Sydney is six artists away. Six.
- Founding artist badge and priority placement on day one
- Your profile built with you, before the client side opens
- 10% of the platform fee on every artist you bring across, for 12 months
- A direct line to the team building it, and a say in what gets built next
We read every application by hand, so give us a day or two. We'll come back to you from dev@canvs.ink, so it's worth adding that to your contacts. If your city fills before we get to you, you keep your place in line. If you've applied to us before, we've kept your original place and taken your latest answers.
Before you ask.
What does it cost me?
Nothing to join, nothing to hold a founding spot, and nothing off your rate. Canvs adds a 10% platform fee on top of the price you quote and the client pays it, so a $720 session bills the client $792 and you receive $720. We pay the Stripe processing fees out of our share. There is no subscription and no commission deducted from you.
Who actually holds the money?
You do. Payments go to your own Stripe account, so you are the merchant of record and the funds are yours from the moment they clear. Canvs never sits in the middle holding your takings. The flip side is that card disputes are raised against your account, so we give you the dispute tools in your dashboard and help you respond.
Do I have to leave Instagram?
No. Most artists keep posting exactly as they do now and put their Canvs link in the bio. The difference is what happens after someone taps it: a complete brief instead of a DM, and a deposit instead of a maybe.
Does Canvs replace my studio management software?
For most artists it replaces the pile that stands in for one: the DM inbox, the paper diary, the bank transfers for deposits and the spreadsheet at tax time. It handles enquiries, quoting, bookings, deposits, payouts and reviews in one place. It is not a POS or a stock system, and it does not try to be.
I travel and do guest spots. Does that work?
Yes, and it's one of the things Canvs is best at. Add your travel dates and the city, and your availability surfaces to clients there instead of only to the people who happen to see a story. Studios can also list open chairs, so guest weeks fill both ways.
Who owns my portfolio and my clients?
You do. Your images stay yours, your client list is yours, and you can export both and walk away whenever you like. We don't sell your work and we don't let anyone use it to train an image model.
What if a client tries it on?
The deposit is already in your account and your terms were agreed at checkout, so a no show simply means you keep it. The balance is authorised on their card at booking, so there's nothing to chase on the day either.
When does it launch?
City by city, as each one reaches 60 founding artists. Sydney is closest, six short at the time of writing, then Melbourne. Founding artists are onboarded before the client side opens, so there's work waiting when it does.
Who's behind it?
Canvs is built by a passionate team, building fixes with artists across the country, in the shop rather than in a boardroom. Reach us any time at dev@canvs.ink.

or take the DMs.
Round one closes at 300. There isn't a round two at these terms.
